The importance of things
Some more photographs I shot this weekend for the Walcot Project, based on our metaphysical relationships with that which we cannot see but feel. Key words, ephemeral, spiritual, cosmic.
Come down to the Walcot Chapel in Bath next week to see my stuff!
The importance of things. Worth very little in material terms but weighing very heavy in my hands and in my heart, this is a small collection of things I will never relieve myself of in any effort to become a little lighter. Many things add value, but I strongly believe it is sentiment that endures. How can we redefine the importance of sentimental emotion, born from religious and secular symbolism, in an age of manipulation, branding, mass production and relentless consumerism? I’m thinking that luxury as a ‘synthetic alternative’ is not the only option but I’ll let you know on Thursday when I’m brain dead but have written 3,500 words on the topic.
The Importance of things.
Having fun playing with these photographs of Cara in the snow, lucky to have the most beautiful creature in the world as a best friend.
Print for a new project for Sofa.com. Key words Odd, rich and ephemeral. All very good words.
Tonight I visited my grandparents home. We ate salty mash (She doesn’t concentrate much when cooking these days) and I spent an hour rediscovering all the things I remember so vividly as a child. The sounds of my nails on the panelled walls as I climbed the stairs to bed, watching myself drinking hot milk at the dresser and the way the china slid around on the lacquered wood.
